The Equator :

Uganda is one of the few countries in the world where the equator divides the earth into two half passes. The Equator crosses into Uganda at a point situated 72km south of Kampala along the Kampala – Masaka road. At the Uganda Equator you observe this by a line drawn in the middle of the lane, with a monument on both sides that state “Uganda Equator” At the Equator see an experiment of how water drains straight down at the Equator while the water will drain clockwise on the northern hemisphere and counter clockwise on the southern hemisphere. This is something very exciting to see. Wouldn’t it be an exploration to stand with one foot in the southern hemisphere and one foot on the northern hemisphere of the world?

BWINDI IMPENETRABLE FOREST NATIONAL PARK

Bwindi is 331 square kilometers and is located in South Western Uganda, on the edge of the western rift valley, shared by Kabale, Rukungiri and Kisoro Districts. It lies on an altitude range of 2607m (Rwamunyonyi peak)-1160m (Ishasha gorge).

Annual Temperature ranges from 7-20 degrees Celsius. Usually it’s cold during June- July rains heavily in March-April and September-November. The local people in this area are mainly Bakiga and Bafumbira, representing the most impenetrable settlements in Uganda, (233 people/ square kilometers).

The Highlights : An exciting water experiment at the Uganda Equator in 2 hemispheres,Spectacular Landscape Scenery; Including banana and Tea plantations, Savannah Great Plains, the Great East African Rift Valley Escarpments at Kyambura, Beautiful crater Lakes and the dramatic hills and mountains of Bushenyi, Kanungu and Rukungiri Districts.

A chance to spot elephants, Buffalo Herds, Uganda Cobs and on a luck day tree climbing lions on the way to Bwindi via Katunguru – Ishasha

ITINERARY

Day 1: Kampala – Equator – Mbarara – Kambuga Kigezi Highlands
Meet and Greet at Hotel/Residence in Kampala or Entebbe.
Departure for Kigezi Forest Cottages Kambuga Masaka, Mbarara & Ntungamo.
Stop over at the Equator top enjoy water experiment in both Hemispheres.
Lunch at Selected restaurant in Mbarara (Not Included).
Proceed and arrive in Kambuga driving through the farmlands and banana plantations of Ntungamo.
Enjoy the most dramatic part of the Rift Valley Escarpment the Enengo Gorge as you arrive in time for sunset over the lodge .
OPTIONAL 1: Enjoy a guided hike through a Nengo Gorge crossing River Mitano meeting local people .
Dinner at the cottages (Included).
Over Night Accommodation at Kigezi Forest Cottages (F/B)

Day 2: Bwindi Impenetrable National Park – Wild Marathon/Walk in Bwindi
Breakfast at the Hotel.
Transfer to Buhoma Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
Participate in the Wild Marathon at Bwindi OR any optional Activities.
OPTIONAL 1: Gorilla Trekking (150,000UGX Ugandans, $300 Foreign Residents).
OPTIONAL 2: Nature walk to Munyanga Falls.
OPTIONAL 3: Rushura Hill Hike .
Enjoy packed lunch in Bwindi (Own Expense).
Transfer back to the lodge later in the evening.
Dinner at the cottages (Included).
Over Night Accommodation at Kigezi Forest Cottages (F/B)

Day 3: Transfer back to Kampala – Via Enengo
Breakfast at the Hotel .
OPTIONAL 1: Visit a local cattle Farm, participate in milking cows in the morning session.
OPTIONAL 2: Enjoy grazing the cows in the hilly farm before departing Kampala.
OPTIONAL 3: Visit Nyaka school Grannies project .
Depart for Kampala via Rukungiri and Ntungamo Mbarara.
Enjoy the most Dramatic part of the rift valley escarpment, the Enengo Gorge.
Stop over for lunch at a selected restaurant in Mbarara (Not Included).
Proceed to Kampala via Masaka.
Drive to the Airport and check in for Out bound flight.
