Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary was established to care for orphaned chimpanzees that have been rescued by the Uganda Wildlife Authority. Many of the chimpanzees were rescued from poachers and are unlikely to survive reintroduction to the wild. Ngamba Island is 100 acres (approximately 40 hectares) of rain-forest situated a short boat ride (23 km) away from Entebbe, near the Equator in Lake Victoria, Uganda. It supports a rich diversity of Natural Wildlife and provides a variety of Natural foods for the chimpanzees. The island is set up as an Eco-friendly project with compost toilets, rainwater collection, proper waste management practices and solar energy for electricity and hot water.

Itinerary- Time estimates
08:00am – Depart Kampala/Hotel for the pier on Lake Victoria for registration and briefing before going to the Island.
09:00am – Transfer to Ngamba Island by speed boat to Ngamba Chimpanzee Sanctuary (45 minutes Cruise).
09:45am – Arrive at the Chimpanzee Island for comprehensive information about the rescued and orphaned chimpanzees on the island.
10:00am – Enjoy an up close view of the chimpanzees.
11:00am – Enjoy a morning feeding session of the Chimpanzees and possibly engage in the feeding session.
12:00pm – Transfer back to Entebbe town by speed boat or you can engage in an optional activity of swimming at the equator.
12:45pm – Drop off at hotel or place of residence.
